Meet Susan Pennington
MA, LMFT-S

I incorporate evidence-based interventions, and I customize your treatment to your unique set of needs and even more unique personality and temperament. With ten years clinical experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups, I have developed my skills and expertise around couples and individuals within “relationship”.

I provide a safe, comfortable, non-judgmental zone for you or you and your partner. You and your partner will be on equal ground. Make a step into therapy to connect with me and I will do everything in my power to help.

As a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate, my focus is relationships. Relationships with others, as well as the relationship that you have with yourself. Whether you are a couple exhausted from conflict, a parent struggling to communicate with your teen, an individual grieving from divorce, or merely a human trying to make sense of parental childhood wounds. Relationships are intricate, confusing, and beautiful. I will apply evidence-based models of relational therapy to create a path forward. I will help you problem solve, as well as process the unconscious emotions that are keeping you stuck. My therapeutic style is calm, understanding, and authentically curious. Therapy can be intimidating and overwhelming but also deeply freeing and empowering. It is quite inspiring for me, even as a therapist, to witness the profound changes that people can go through.  May you feel seen, heard, and more optimistic about the future. I can’t wait to meet you.

After over 20 years in corporate leadership roles, I have witnessed firsthand the myriad ways people struggle with personal and professional challenges. This experience ignited my passion for mental health counseling, where I am dedicated to helping you gain deeper insight into how your own behaviors and patterns may be impacting your life. My goal is to support you in developing skills to navigate and overcome these challenges, ultimately guiding you toward the happiness and fulfillment you desire.

I specialize in addressing a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, professional burnout, intellectual disabilities, communication struggles, relational difficulties, self-esteem, life coaching, women’s issues, and racial identity. Additionally, I have a strong commitment to supporting individuals and caregivers dealing with chronic illness and cancer, recognizing the unique emotional landscapes they navigate.

My counseling style is authentic, honest, and compassionate. I strive to create a safe and collaborative therapeutic environment where vulnerability is welcomed and transformation can occur. By integrating proven techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy with a practical approach, I am here to help you tackle real-world challenges. I embrace and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and respectful space for all.
